The Portable Antiquities Scheme

An oval copper alloy seal matrix, hexagonal handle tapering sharply to a triple collar topped by a worn (originally trefoliar?) suspension loop with circular perforation. Complex device: the head of an antlered cow, face on. Below his mouth, two mirrored sprays of foliage, each of three slender leaves, and below that, a long-billed duck-like bird in profile. Between the antlers, the letters "SW" above an indistinct letter, possibly an "E" or "T". These letters are a continuation of the legend rather than integral to the device. Measurements: 17 mm x 22 mm, 26 mm high.
